Are you wondering how you are going to get your body back into shape? It’s not easy but you need to start from somewhere.

It’s advisable, starting exercise soon after giving birth is not only good for your health but also it helps with postpartum depression. Before starting any workout check with your doctor and get a go-ahead. Remember every pregnancy and delivery is different. Don’t expect what worked for someone else to work for you.

There are things you can start with before you get into your regular exercise.

You can do some walking with your child

This is something you can do. After you are done doing your chores and need some fresh air, you can go out with your child for a walk. With this, you not only get fresh air but you also get time to bond with your child outside the house.

How It’s Done: Sit upright and breathe deeply, drawing air from the diaphragm upward. Contract and hold your abs tight while inhaling and relax while exhaling. Gradually increase the amount of time you can contract and hold your abs.

You can do this when your baby is sleeping and you have time to yourself to spare.

Reducing sugar intake

You can go for fruits instead of added sugar. Fruits can help you in getting healthy, natural sugar. this means cutting back on drinks that are filled with sugar. You can easily reduce your sugar intake by avoiding processed foods and sticking to whole foods such as vegetables, legumes, fruits, meats, fish, eggs, nuts and yoghurt.

Staying hydrated

Since you are breastfeeding it means some fluids are lost. Staying hydrated means increasing your intake of drinking water which might help you instead of taking carbonated drinks like soda and caffeinated drinks. taking water will also help in losing weight.

Breastfeed if you can

Breastfeeding helps burn calories hence if you can do it as it helps you reduce the extra weight you added while you were pregnant. It also helps lower chances of you getting depressed. Apart from it helping nourish your child it also helps you as a mom.

As you are breastfeeding alcohol is not only bad for you but you are also putting your child in danger.

Finally, it might seem hard, but there is so much going on in your life after giving birth. Take advantage of the little time you get in between and do something that will help you health-wise.
